Is his accent in LoTR his accent in real life? I think its cute :) cause i haven't heard him speak yet except in the movie.
It is! The LOTR director and producers originally planned for—and asked—Billy to use an English accent for the film, but changed their minds when they—and he!—found that the lines and humour came more naturally for him in his actual Scottish accent. It helped that Tolkien apparently hinted that the Tooks were meant to be Scottish, or close to. Billy’s real accent is considerably stronger even than Pippin’s, however; he keeps it mostly clear in interviews on camera, but face to face and in everyday life, it’s thick and wonderfully Glaswegian.
